Joel's Visit in the Rain

After the last two days of fun at the beach, the Vatican tour, and seeing Rome, the kids needed some time to get some work done. They got a lot of school work done, and we had tortellini for lunch. In the afternoon, Joel McBride arrived from Paris where he had been working. He is staying at an Air BnB that is about a half hour walk from here. We thought he was coming to our apartment to meet us here, but he actually went to his own apartment instead. So we went up to his place to see him and pick him up to go to the temple. It was Brian, Courtney, and me.
We walked to the neighborhood were Joel is staying; it's a very residential place with not a lot of shops or bus stops nearby. He showed us the room that he is staying inside one of the apartments in the building. We helped him get a ticket to the Vatican for tomorrow. We walked to the bus stop and catch a bus going to Porta di Roma. We walked to IKEA and looked out over the freeways, but there were no lights on outside the temple. It was totally dark! We decided to go back inside the shopping mall and we found a nice place to eat delicious pizza, and Courtney had fried calamari. Then we went to the grocery store inside the shopping mall to get some food and then made a stop for some gelato. When we left them all it was raining pretty hard. We walked to the bus stop, and I found a broken umbrella on the ground that worked a little. Courtney and I tried to stand under it as we were waiting for the bus. The bus finally arrived, and Joel got off on his stop and we rode a little more to our stop. The we walked back to the apartment; the rain was very wet, but at least it wasn't too cold. The kids were still up, and we fed them some bread and jam.
