Hailey's Thankful Turkey
Hailey brought home a fun little project from preschool to work on at home. She had to decorate this turkey to show what she is thankful for. This Thanksgiving Hailey is thankful for: popcorn, Preston, flowers, heart and playing with Mom. She convinced me that she just HAD to have a sparkley turkey and so we made a huge mess with glitter to cover her turkey. She is so proud that her turkey is now hanging in the hall at school for all to see.

Cheering for our Favorite Teams
We were so excited about Sydney's first basketball game. The game turned out to be frustrating but a good learning experience with the ending score 36-0. One of the problems that this team faces is that more than half the team is third graders that have never played before and the rest of the team is fourth graders...that means they have to play fourth grade teams. Another problem that they faced was that they other team happened to have a girl that was at least 12 inches taller than most of the girls on our team. (So how many years has she been held back?) The coaches had her play defense against our tiny point guards the entire game. They would try to bring the ball down and get scared by this aggresive girl, she'd steal the ball and run down and make a basket. Another problem was their obnoxious coaches...can you switch up the defense just a little to give us a chance to score once...or when after half-time one of our players was confused and made a basket for their team they laughed and high-fived each other...they were just plain rude. So the last quarter, Sydney tells her coach that she wants to play point guard when she knows she'll have to go up against this girl. The coach reluctantly let her try even though she had been practicing the forward position; besides, what did they have to lose? She got in there and tried to work her way past the defense and made some good passes. The coaches were impressed and we were so proud of her for playing her best and working hard. They had a good chat after the game about what they had learned and what they can practice on. I think in the end the parents were more irritated than the kids were, but we're all hoping for at least a few points for our team at the next game. Go Tornados!
Then we went up to cheer for the AF Falcons as they played against BYU. How we ended up with tickets right smack in the middle of the BYU fans, I'll never know. We could not have asked for better football weather in the middle of November. It was an awesome day. Both teams had plays to cheer about, but in the end, the Cougars dominated. It was fun to have Kathlyn, Curt, Anna & Lani all fly out from Idaho for the game and to spend some time with us. We also enjoyed sitting right behind our buddies, the Chaffins, and had some all-in-good-fun BYU-AF rivalry.

So after a full day of cheering for our favorite teams, I arrived home with a hoarse throat and a call asking me to be the new chorister for Primary - and by the way can you start tomorrow? Sure thing! I'm thrilled!
